sometimes, tree and shrub roots can break though the pipe work, and so cause blockages. when this happens, the drains may need to be exposed using a mini digger and sometimes, it is necessary to dig across your gardens. when this happens, the damaged pipe needs replacing and the roots cropped away, before the gravel bed and soil or other covering is dug back to conceal the new pipes. this is time consuming and can be costly. try not to plant trees or shrubs near your drainage systems.
